This wonderful piece of work, all built in tuff, is a testament to the finest human art of knowing how to build in harmony with nature.Pitigliano has two sisters “tuff towns”: Sovana and Sorano.
BAGNO VIGNONI
In the heart of Val d'Orcia, Bagno Vignoni is a small "private" village off the usual route. The sight is breathtaking: the village square is a thermal bath of the sixteenth century .This almost mystical setting is a corner of Tuscany where silence, charm and good food are a religion.
Between a Cafe, a good restaurant, libraries and ancient herbal stores you forget the time passing and breath the best of Italy.
SAN GALGANO
Protected by the rolling hills of Siena this Gothic Abbey built around the year 1200 BC represents one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in all of Tuscany. Its thick walls are supporting a roof made only of sky and it’s name is that of the holy Cavalier Galgano, whom at the height of his Christian conversion, inflicted his sword in a rock with the aim of turning the weapon into a cross. The “Sword in the Stone” a source of myths and legends is found in this magical place in Tuscany.SOVANA
A flourishing Etruscan centre between the third and seventh century BC, Sovana became an important medieval village. It too is built exclusively of tuff and is a gem from that time. The central square is wonderful, but there are also many monuments to visit, the ancient Etruscan tomb shaped as a Greek temple and the incredible Vie Cave.ROCCA DI FRASSINELLO - RENZO PIANO
This winery designed by renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano, is a joint venture of two companies -a French and an Italian – with the aim to discover and develop a new wine production of the highest level in Maremma. The belief is that this area has the same potential of the famous hills of Bolgheri and Scansano and the same will to pursue excellence in wine creation. The Rocca di Frassinello vineyard and it’s wonderful wine are now famous around the world.TERME DI SATURNIA
“Legend has it that Saturn – god of abundance – was angry one day with men for their continuous wars. The setting of the legend was in the heart of Tuscan Maremma: Saturnia, where the water spurts with a flow rate of 500 litres per second at a constant temperature of 37 °.Saturnia was the oldest Italian town
